EUR to RUB: Convert Euros to Russian Rubles
Currency pair · 2026-11-04 · 4 min read
For a long time the euro was the most practical foreign currency for anyone with ties to Russia, because so much trade ran through Europe. It is still quoted everywhere, but sanctions have changed how euros reach Russia and what they cost. Here is the live rate and what to keep in mind.
EUR → RUB live mid-market rate
Why do euro to ruble rates differ so much?
Since June 2024 the euro is no longer traded on the Moscow Exchange, so there is no single public market price for EUR/RUB inside Russia. Banks set their own buy and sell rates from over-the-counter deals, and the Central Bank publishes an official rate calculated from that data. Spreads at Russian banks can be wide, so the difference between two exchange offices in the same city is often bigger than on a typical pair.
Can you take euros to Russia?
EU sanctions ban selling or sending euro banknotes to Russia, with an exception for what a traveller needs for personal use on the trip. Since foreign cards do not work in Russia either, that means planning how much cash you need before you go, rather than counting on a withdrawal when you arrive. Rules in this area change, so confirm the current limits with official sources first.
How do you convert euros to rubles by hand?
Multiply the euro amount by the rate. If 1 EUR is 90 RUB, 100 euros is 9,000 rubles and 500 euros is 45,000 rubles. To go back, divide. The 90 is only an example: use today’s figure from the box above.
